In 2013, the 300th anniversary of the Peace Treaty of Utrecht will be celebrated in a grand way. The real festivities will only begin on 11 April 2013, but over the next few years many events will lead up to the celebrations.

Keukenhof opening

The annual Keukenhof flower event opens in March, taking due inspiration from Amsterdam 2013. In the 175-year-old Artis Royal Zoo, the exhibition Bloemenzee will explore the history of the zoo as a park in full bloom. March is also the 160th anniversary of the birth of Vincent van Gogh, plus a special anniversary exhibition will open at the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem.
