Faralda NDSM Crane Hotel in Amsterdam

Tourists and business visitors to Amsterdam who enjoy creative accommodations can soon look forward to the Faralda NDSM Crane Hotel, located at the top of a former industrial crane in one of the city’s most creative neighbourhoods.

Luxury hotel set for iconic location in Amsterdam
In a press statement, Faralda announced that the iconic Crane 13 on the NDSM terrain in the north of Amsterdam would be dismantled in order to undergo its creative renovation. This summer, the imposing 50-metre high industrial crane will be refitted and prepare for its second life as a luxury hotel.

Crane 13 has a rich history and is a remnant of an era when large ocean-going ships were built at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam. In more recent times creative and enterprising residents have repurposed the area but the crane has remained in place, reflecting the industrial heritage and entrepreneurship of the region. Attracted by this free spirit, many international companies – especially in media – have established their headquarters around the NDSM crane.

Creative hospitality
The Faralda NDSM Crane Hotel will fit perfectly in this Amsterdam creative hotspot. Not only does it offer a unique and exclusive experience for its guests – including a hot tub located on the roof – it will also host the Faralda Television Studio & Facilities and the Faralda Television & Music / Events productions.

A luxury hotel hotspot
The opening of this new luxury hotel illustrates that Amsterdam is a true hotspot for investors in the hotel industry – especially for those operating in the luxury segment. According to real estate consultancy Savills, more than 1,400 new hotel rooms were added to the Amsterdam market during 2012, bolstered by the opening of several new luxury hotels.

The demand for hotel rooms in the city in the coming years is expected to increase an average of 4% per year. To meet this demand, the City of Amsterdam is working to add thousands of new hotel rooms by 2015.
