Visit Holland - The Netherlands
Rotterdam will be the host city for three new congresses. ICCA, the leading international network for the meeting and congress industry, will be holding its Client Supplier Workshop in Rotterdam in 2015.
The ISEV (International Society for Extracellular Vesicles) and the organisers of the International Conference on Child Development in School & Community Settings have announced that they have also decided to hold their congresses in Rotterdam. The three congresses are expected to generate approximately EUR 1.5 million for the city. Rotterdam Marketing has played a key role in bringing these congresses to Rotterdam.
The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) workshop gives Rotterdam the opportunity to position itself as a suitable congress destination among a large group of potential customers. Fifteen congress agencies from fifteen European cities will participate in this international meeting that is being held for the first time in the Netherlands. They will all be joined by an association partner (representatives from the scientific and association community) who hold one or more large European congresses each year. The cities will have the opportunity during a speed date session to present themselves as a suitable location for a potential congress to be held by the associations. Joyce Wittelaar, Account Manager at Rotterdam Marketing, explains that the fact that the workshop is taking place in Rotterdam has tremendous added value: ‘Experiencing the city is always a more valuable introduction than reading about it in an advertisement or hearing people talk about it.’
The Client Supplier Workshop will be held at the Manhattan Hotel Rotterdam and Ahoy Rotterdam at the end of June 2015.
ISEV
The ISEV congress will be held from 30 April through 3 May 2014 at de Doelen Concert and Congress Centre. This is the third edition of this annual congress. The previous editions were held in Gothenburg (Sweden) and Boston (USA). More than 700 participants are expected to attend this congress, including biologists, doctors, veterinarians and representatives from biotech companies, the pharmaceutical industry and the food industry. The city’s good accessibility, the venue, the price-quality ratio and the diverse range of hotels in different price categories were the reasons why ISEV chose Rotterdam. De Doelen, Utrecht University, VU University Amsterdam and the University Medical Centres in Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam are just a few of the organisations involved.
CDSCS
The International Conference on Child Development in School & Community Settings - Research and its Practical Implications will be held from 26 to 28 June 2014 at de Doelen Concert and Congress Centre. Some 500 child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, educators and managers working in health care and education will be coming to Rotterdam. This is the first time this congress is being held. The theme of this first edition is child and adolescent psychiatry. The decision to hold the congress in Rotterdam is the result of cooperation between de Doelen, Yulius Academy (an expertise organisation for mental health), Congress Care (Medical Specialist in congresses and symposiums) and Rotterdam Marketing. The organisers chose Rotterdam as the location for the congress due to the ‘world port city’s international character’. The city’s good accessibility, selection of hotel accommodation and range of leisure activities also played a part.
Incentive Fund
Rotterdam’s Incentive Fund was utilised for both the ISEV and the ICCD. The fund has been offering initiators of international association congresses financial support under certain conditions for several years. The fund focuses on the spearheads of the city: port, industry, medical and creative. Both congresses contribute to Rotterdam’s international medical image.
Congress poster
Rotterdam Marketing is also launching a new tool for the congress market: the congress poster. Through the introduction of this new product, Rotterdam Marketing is assisting congress organisers to promote both their congress and the city. Facilitating congress organisers in this way enables them to generate awareness of their congress and recruit more participants at an even earlier stage.
Rotterdam Marketing has also introduced the ‘Dining in Rotterdam’ restaurant guide, the congress menu and the Congress Kit for the same reason.
