The Hague or 's-Gravenhage is the seat of government in the Netherlands, and the capital city of the province of South Holland.

With a population just over 500,000 inhabitants (as of 1 November 2012) and more than one million inhabitants including the suburbs, it is the third largest city of the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam.The Hague (Dutch: Den Haag pronounced [dɛnˈɦaːx] ( listen) or 's-Gravenhage is the seat of government in the Netherlands, and the capital city of the province of South Holland. Scheveningen is one of the eight districts of The Hague, as well as a subdistrict (wijk) of that city. Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long sandy beach, an esplanade, a pier, and a lighthouse. The beach is popular for water sports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding.
